    "THIS ISN'T WALMART, I OWN A BOUTIQUE!" I attended the Brazos Valley Fair on Sunday, October 18th, 2015. I walked in and the first booth I saw was Southern Trends Unique Boutique. I had been looking for a cute game day dress and found one I loved so I tried it on. Alice Wagner, owner of the Boutique, rushed over when I came out of the dressing room to show my husband. She threw a belt around my waist that I ABSOLUTELY loved but it was way too big. She went back to the belts and grabbed one a size smaller but it was not the same belt and I didn't like it as much as the first. After trying it on together I decided to purchase both items thinking that I would be able to exchange them if all else failed. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! I called the store on Tuesday and spoke with Alice herself, I explained that I purchased a belt over the weekend at the fair and that I'm not happy with the purchase. I asked if I was able to bring it by the store for an exchange and was promptly told that she does not accept exchanges or refunds on accessories. She then went on to give me some B.S. example about how I could have worn the belt and decided it was "too" expensive and that I needed to return it. Talk about a slap in the face, if I couldn't afford the $50 belt I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place! If she had shut her mouth long enough to let me speak, she would have realized I wanted to exchange the belt for the more expensive one I tried on first and PAY the difference; I only wanted it in my size!! She told me that she has signs posted everywhere in her store explaining her policy, I then reminded her that I bought the items from her booth and told her there were no such signs. There was also no return/exchange policy on my receipt which was sent via text. Her response: "ALL boutiques have this same policy, I'm not running a Walmart I am running a Boutique!" I shop at several Boutiques in town, Merge, Pine, Francesca's, etc. and they clearly define their policies; looks like they just obtained more of my business. I will never recommend this store, will never shop there again, and I will tell my story to all that listen. As a Hospitality Executive, I know what it takes to run a reputable and successful business and this type of treatment infuriates me! This store may have "Unique Trends" but they lack basic customer service skills and couth; the owner is tactless and unreasonable. Owner Alice Wagner, you are correct about one thing, you are not running a Walmart; Walmart has you beat when it comes to customer service and class!!
